Raking Leaves

Nothing feels more like FALL than the crisp fresh air, and the changing of leaves. When everything turns to hues of reds, yellows, oranges, and browns. And, nothing is more fun for a kid than playing in a pile of leaves as they welcome Fall.

Below are our top 5 things to do outside with a pile of FALLEN FALL leaves.

1) RAKE AND JUMP IN PILES OF LEAVES

This activity is one of the simplest and most traditional ways to get outside and have fun with fall leaves. What child doesn't love to jump into a pile of leaves? Tackle your yard work and entertain your kids at once; rake up several piles all over the yard and let your children have a ball.

2) MAKE A LEAF MAZE IN YOUR BACKYARD

Since you have to rake, why not create a leaf maze or labyrinth while you're out there? Rake the fallen leaves into a maze across your yard, and allow your kids to meander through them.

3) ROADWAY LEAF MAZE

Similar to our leaf labyrinth, create a roadway maze and make it wide enough so that your kids can drive their push-toys through.

4) FALL LEAF COUNTING

Make a game out of catching and counting fall leaves.

5) PRACTICE IDENTIFY LEAVES

Take your favorite tree and leaf field guide with you on a nature walk and help your children identify leaves.
